Parenting Unplugged: Dads Unplugged LIVE

Posted March 1st, 2010 in Milagros News | Tags: | No Comments

This one is for the Papas. Here is the word from our friends at Parenting Unplugged Radio about how Portland dads can be part of the show:

“March 2nd at 8:30 pm, Kent Lewis and Todd will host their first live recording of Dads Unplugged in front of a studio audience. It’s for Dad’s only. Moms, I know it will make more work for you but all of us Dads appreciate you giving us the chance to become better fathers and husbands. It starts at 8:30. The event takes place at 1440 NW Overton in the Flying Rhino Building. Come and listen, ask questions, meet other dads. Leave richer and better for it. Your kids and wife will thank you. Invite your friends. It’s Free! See you on Tuesday night. Spread the word.”

Listen to Parenting Unplugged live weekdays at 11am, Pacific time, or download later (always free). Milagros is proud to be a community partner with Parenting Unplugged Radio.

Parenting Unplugged: One I Missed and Some Upcoming Guests

What I missed:

One of the many things I love about internet radio is that when you miss something live, you can download it later and give it a listen. On Tuesday’s show, Laura and Todd talked with Dr. Nancy Rappaport. Dr. Rappaport’s book, In Her Wake: A Child Psychiatrist Explores the Mystery of Her Mother’s Suicide, discusses her own experience with her mother’s depression and suicide. During the show, she shared her own personal stories from her childhood as well as what signs of distress to look for in teens and other family members. It is an poignant interview, you can download it here.

Upcoming Shows I Plan on Tuning in For:

On the show December 15th, Dr. Patricia Campbell will be talking about music and children. The Smithsonian Folkways record label has more than 4,000 titles including many new and resurrected albums of music for kids (such as the work of Sarah Lee Guthrie).

Po Bronson is coming! He is more than just a memorable name, he is a pretty compelling writer and social commentator on parenting life (check out Nurture Shock) and life in general. He’ll be on Parenting Unplugged on December 22nd.

Parenting Unplugged: Dr. Laura Kastner

Tomorrow on Parenting Unplugged Radio, Todd and Laura chat with Dr. Laura Kastner, author of Getting to Calm. Dr. Kastner is an expert on nonviolent communication and the focus of the show will be on the recent debate about shouting being the new spanking (feel guilty yet? yeah, me too).

It should be an interesting show. As always, you can join in the conversation by emailing your questions and experiences to info@parentingunpluggedradio.com or sending an Instant Message during the show by visiting the Parenting Unplugged website when you are listening live (listen live here).
