Tiny Talkers is bringing its Baby Signing 101 Workshop to Milagros on April 21:
Are you a busy mom, dad, grandparent, educator or caregiver? Have no time to spare? Then the Baby Signing 101 Workshop is for YOU!
Learning to sign with your baby is simple and you can learn all you need to know in one session. When you learn how to communicate with baby using sign language, you will help reduce tears & tantrums, increase their IQ, boost bonding & actually help them speak earlier than non-signers.
During this workshop, you will learn specific how-to information, invaluable tips & techniques based on how baby’s brain works, activities & games to promote verbal language & get a baby signing dictionary with over 80 helpful signs as well as a journal! The most important thing that the workshop offers is practical advice on how to reach your ultimate goal- verbal language development.
Tiny Talkers teaches American Sign Language (ASL). It is our belief that making up your own language as some other baby sign language programs encourage could present problems if you want others to understand your baby’s signs. Many people know American Sign Language including caregivers at daycare centers and why not give your child a head start on being bilingual?
This workshop is geared toward adults but non-mobile babies welcome if you feel you can comprehend the material while caring for them.
Price Per First Student: $40, Price Per Spouse/Partner: $10

Tuesday, September 15th, 6:30 -8:30pm
This class focuses on the primacy of connection in parenting young children, and on parenting without punishments, consequences or conditional rewards of any kind.
Look deeply past difficult behaviors to discover the underlying needs of our children, and begin to use concrete tools to respond effectively to parenting challenges.
This class covers respectful limit setting, developmental norms, listening to childrens’ feelings, resolving sibling conflicts, and many practical ideas about what to do instead of being either an authoritarian or a permissive parent.
Incorporates concepts from the work of Alfie Kohn (Unconditional Parenting), Dr. Gordon Neufeld (Hold on to Your Kids), Lawrence J. Cohen (Playful Parenting), Pam Leo (Connection Parenting) and Marshall Rosenburg (NVC), as well as the varied professional and personal experience of facilitators Lyla and Emily.
Facilitated By:
Lyla Wolfenstein, B.S., IBCLC, Parent Educator, Lactation Consultant and Mother of 2
Emily Troper, ECE, Parenting and Early Childhood Educator and Mother of 4
Anyone who takes the Introductory Class (or any of our previous Connected Parenting classes) and want continued coaching and support are invited to register for the 4-part Connected Parenting Support and Discussion Series.
Registration:
You may pay on our website (http://continuumlearningcommunity.com/index.html) using a credit card/paypal, or email Lyla at lylaw@comcast.net for an address to send a check.
It is strongly recommended that you sign up for the intro class and the coaching series at the same time to ensure a space in the coaching series. Registration fee for the 4-part series includes the class packet, which includes many valuable articles and resources for continued enrichment (or sharing with partners) at home. There is limited childcare available for the coaching/support series, please inquire with Lyla for details.
Quiet babies in arms welcome.

My Smart Hands with Maria would like to invite you to join Maria and learn about using American Sign Language (ASL) with your hearing child.
This *one hour seminar will provide you with the basic tools to provide your child with the benefits of early communication, learning, and bonding. In addition to learning the benefits of using sign, you will be instructed in the use of early signs and how to easily incorporate them into your daily routines in a fun and functional manner.
Since most babies are developmentally ready for signing back to their caregivers around 8-10 months of age, the typical age to start signing with your baby is around 6 months, but it is never too early OR too late to start.
So, come and join us…we look forward to meeting you! Babies are welcome to join us and there will be toys to play with, however if you feel that you may be too distracted you may wish to come alone or with a partner to help.
Please contact Maria Gross at 503-312-2216 or maria@mysmarthands.com to pre-register.
