Get Crafty! Handmade gifts are never anything less than unique and are always made with that secret ingredient L-O-V-E. Here are a few crafty ideas for folks short on time.

Give an experience! Sometime we get caught up in what can be unwrapped and enjoyed – right now! Or we can’t decide and default to a gift certificate (which is still cool, we sell them and so do most local stores). But how about something that can be redeemed after the holidays that is memorable and unique? Like some show tickets or a homemade coupon promising a hike or a special homemade dinner or other outing? There is really no limit to the experiences you can give.

Give the Gift of Giving! We often give gifts of hope in the names of our loved ones. These are gifts that will have an impact much greater and longer than any traditional gift. There are a few wonderful organizations that provide unique opportunities to give a gift of charity this holiday season – or any time. Here are some that we frequently support:

MercyCorps

Seva Foundation

Heifer International

Don’t forget the love. Remember that the most important part of the holiday season is celebrating family, friends, and our connections as members of the global community.

Taking the time to share love and cheer is what really matters this time of year, and any time of year. So don’t forget to give love and thanks, two priceless gifts.

Speaking of which: Thank you for supporting Milagros and letting us share this special season with you!

Peace,

The youthful innocence in Veirs’ voice lends itself well to the jaunty spirit of the album, a collection of American folk songs. She and renown record-producer Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, Sufjan Stevens), her long-time collaborator on seven of her eight records, have created a piece of art that is sure to appeal to children as well as adult fans of Veirs’ previous work.

“Rock” by The Alphabeticians: Mr. Hoo’s band sings songs about dinosaurs, daddies, numbers, monsters, metaphors, monkeys and alternate alphabet songs. Fun, upbeat quirky music for kids and families.

“Robot Rodeo” by Mo Phillips: Mo’s description of this CD? “Music for crazy people, and their parents. If Black Francis joined Wilco to make a kids album, it just might sound like this.”

Well, I do love this CD, so I just may be a parent of crazy little people…
