Infant Massage is very beneficial for easing pain associated with colic, gas, constipation, and teething. The relaxing nature of massage also helps reduce stress, helping baby and you sleep better. Other benefits include: strengthening the immune, hormonal, circulatory, nervous, and digestive systems, as well as teaching the infant about healthy touch. Through infant massage parent and child form a stronger bond and learn to communicate better.

Lisa Carlascio, owner of Baby My Sweet Baby, will provide a demonstration of massage strokes appropriate for use with infants. This class will also cover the benefits of infant massage, some non-verbal cues of infant distress, and the types of oils that should and should not be used for infant massage. Infant CPR for New Parents, Tuesday, March 9, 6pm: This month’s CPR class is full. This class will provided hands-on instruction on what to do if your infant or child is choking, rescue breathing, basic CPR and First Aid. You are welcome to bring your baby with you to this class. We offer this class on the second Tuesday of every month. Class fee is $25. More information and/or to register for the April, May, or June class

NE Moms Playgroup, Friday, March 12, 2:00pm: Free. The NE Moms playgroup meets at Milagros every other Friday at 2:00pm. The group is open to all, there is no charge and no RSVP is required. MOMS CLUB N/NE Portland is part of MOMS CLUB International – a non profit organization dedicated to supporting mothers. We are a group of local Moms who meet in person every Thursday morning. Most of our meetings are social activities, but we also do one service project a year. Children are always welcome at our meetings and activities. We try and do a MOMs night out once a month. Are you a busy mom, dad, grandparent, educator or caregiver? Have no time to spare? Then the Baby Signing 101 Workshop is for YOU!

Learning to sign with your baby is simple and you can learn all you need to know in one session. When you learn how to communicate with baby using sign language, you will help reduce tears & tantrums, increase their IQ, boost bonding & actually help them speak earlier than non-signers.

During this workshop, you will learn specific how-to information, invaluable tips & techniques based on how baby’s brain works, activities & games to promote verbal language & get a baby signing dictionary with over 80 helpful signs as well as a journal! The most important thing that the workshop offers is practical advice on how to reach your ultimate goal- verbal language development.

Tiny Talkers teaches American Sign Language (ASL). It is our belief that making up your own language as some other baby sign language programs encourage could present problems if you want others to understand your baby’s signs. Many people know American Sign Language including caregivers at daycare centers and why not give your child a head start on being bilingual?

This workshop is geared toward adults but non-mobile babies welcome if you feel you can comprehend the material while caring for them.

This special class is on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Class fee is $25 and registration is required.

This is a very popular class, registering as far in advance as possible is strongly recommended. The March 9th CPR class is full but registrations are being accepted for April, May, and June.
