Tiny Talkers Baby Signing 101 Workshop, Tuesday, February 21, 12:30pm: During this workshop, you will learn specific how-to information, invaluable tips & techniques based on how baby’s brain works, activities & games to promote verbal language & get a baby signing dictionary with over 80 helpful signs as well as a journal! The most important thing that the workshop offers is practical advice on how to reach your ultimate goal: verbal language development.

Little Kids Jamboree with Lorna Miller, Wednesday, February 8, 10:30am: Join us for the Little Kids Jamboree every Wednesday at Milagros! The Little Kids Jamboree is designed especially for families with little ones up to age eight. The whole family can get into the act at the jamboree, playing instruments, singing, moving, it’s all part of the fun! As with all our music events, suggested donation for this event is $3 per walking person. All donations go to the artist.

Mister Hoo of  The Alphabeticians, Friday, February 10, 11:00am: Mister Hoo (Jeff Inlay), though familiar with the alphabet since childhood, has only grown to love it in recent years. A father of 2 and resident of West Linn, he has been in more bands than he can count (although he claims he can only count to 3), but is most well known for playing in Portland 90’s sensation Hummingfish, and is least well known for his time in Southern California punk band the Mendicant Sauciers. Join him every Friday at 11:00am at Milagros! Suggested donation is $3 per walking human.

Cloth Diapering 101, Saturday, February 11, 11:00am: The Cloth Diapering 101 classes at Milagros are casual gatherings where participants learn all about cloth diapering and get hands-on advice on diapering choices from one of Milagros’ expert staffers. It is also a chance to meet other parents who are using cloth diapers or thinking about it.

Now there is even more music at Milagros!  Starting Wednesday, February 1, we will be hosting a Little Kids Jamboree every Wednesday at 10:30am.

The Little Kids Jamboree will be led by local performer Lorna Miller. Lorna has designed these events especially for families with little ones up to age eight. But the whole family can get into the act at the jamboree! Playing instruments, singing, moving, it’s all part of the fun!

As with all our music events, suggested donation for this event is $3 per walking person. All donations go to the artist.

Hope to see you at the Little Kid Jamboree on Wednesday at 10:30am!

Nursing Mothers Counsel Breastfeeding Preparation Class, Thursday, January 26, 6:00pm: Breastfeeding is the most natural and healthy way to feed your baby, but it does not always come naturally. This free support class at Milagros provides guidance on how to initiate a successful breastfeeding relationship, ensuring a proper latch, how often to breastfeed, how to address common problems or concerns, and much more.  This class taught by the good people at Nursing Mothers Counsel is a casual setting to get your questions answered. It is open to mothers to be as well as their the partners, friends, and family. Free, no rsvp required.

Red Cross Safe Baby Class, Tuesday, November 8, 6:00pm:  This class will provides hands-on instruction on what to do if your infant or child is choking, rescue breathing, and basic CPR. You are welcome to bring your baby with you to this class. Class fee is $30 and registration is required. To register, call the Red Cross national class center at 800-445-8210 and ask to sign-up for the Safe Baby Presentation at Milagros Boutique in Portland, Oregon.

Please note, this class will be on hiatus until February 2012. We will be working with the Red Cross to bring it back as soon as possible.  Thanks.

New Parent & Breastfeeding Support Group, Thursday, November 10, 2:30pm: Come weigh your baby, connect with other mothers, ask questions, and get evidence based information about feeding a new baby at our weekly support group! We will offer information and non-judgmental support.

Please note that the 11/17 will be the last session of this group until further notice, the wonderful instructors are unable to continue this weekly event at this time.

Crafty Mamas Bazaar This Sunday!

Jump start your holiday shopping this Sunday at Milagros! We’ll have a dozen local vendors at the shop displaying handmade goods of all kinds for baby, child, and parent as well as henna tattoos and much more.

Plus there will be treats and refreshments to enjoy and a chance to win a $100 Milagros Gift Certificate.

Best thing of all? Every purchase made at the Crafty Mamas Bazaar and at Milagros on Sunday supports the wonderful work of Mercy Corps. Mercy Corps is hard at work providing disaster relief and alleviating poverty all over the globe.

Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at Milagros!

Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is a traditional celebration in Mexico where the community gathers to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. We invite you to join us and the rest of the Fox Chase business community to this festive event on Tuesday, November 1 from 11:00am – 10:00pm.

There will be activities for the whole family.  Enjoy food, drinks, dancing and plenty of activities for the kids including calavera (sugar skull) decorating at Milagros starting at 12:30pm. We’ll be decorating until we run out of skulls. We have over 300 sugar skulls to decorate, so bring you kids to take part in the fun!

Bring a snapshot of a beloved family members, friends or pets who have passed on to place on one of the remembrance alters.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Infant CPR for New Parents, Tuesday, July 12, 6:00pm: Join the Red Cross for a special CPR and first aid class designed for new parents. You are welcome to bring your baby with you to this class. Class fee is $25 and registration is required. To register contact the Oregon Trail Chapter of the Red Cross at 503.280.1440 and let them know they are registering for the “New Parents” class at Milagros.

Parent & Child Yoga with  Leslie Wilda, Wednesday, July 13, 10:00am: Come play yoga! In this interactive class grown-ups are required to release their inner child and ignite their imagination along with the kids as we become dogs, cats, elephants and lions all in one class! Come experience a playful approach to yoga through movement, music, games, storytelling and laughter. This active class helps develop better body awareness, self control, flexibility and coordination. A great way for families to come together in a fun and healthy way.
