Perhaps the only good thing about the recent safety recalls is that it has reminded us that we need to ask questions, check labels and be our own best advocates as consumers and parents.

One of our principles in creating Milagros was to provide a shopping environment where parents could feel at-ease and know that the products being offered were safe and ethically made. As noted previously, all of our wood toys are USA made. Another area of concern has been bib safety because some “made in China” bibs have been recalled due to lead paint. Also some bibs out there are made of PVC. As with our wood toys, all the bibs we carry at Milagros are made with pride in the USA.

The only line of manufactured bibs we carry are Bumkins and Baby Bjorn bibs (other bibs we offer are made locally by crafty mamas). We thought we would share some information on the production of Bumkins bibs from the manufacturer:

In light of recent product recalls, Bumkins would like to remind customers that all our products, including our waterproof items, are all PVC, vinyl and phthalate free! This includes our SuperBibs, aprons, art smocks, cloth diapers and covers. Additionally, all our waterproof products are MADE IN THE USA with American-made fabric!

Local mama Jonna has graced our shelves with fun unique shirts for your little miracle.

Her line of shirts and pants, known as RiverLynn,  feature fun images, top quilting and appliqués on sweatsop-free shirts.  Robots, animals and even the St. John’s Bridge are some of the themes she has created. Each piece is a unique work of art.

RiverLynn is just one of the many unique clothing lines that we feature at Milagros.

We have no end to items for the baby and toddler set. But we thought we would throw out a reminder that we have a lot options for mamas-to-be as well.

We also stock a selection of like-new, affordable, high-quality maternity clothes. These have been previously enjoyed but a little wear means a lot of savings. And when you are changing sizes every few weeks, why break the bank to look good? Great brands at great prices is what you will find at Milagros. We also have locally made maternity skirts from Hazel Blue!

Hazel Blue a-line skirts are lovely, flattering and fun! Many of the materials that used in Hazel Blue skirts are vintage or short-run. As a result, these skirts are often one-of-a-kind or few-of-a-kind. In addition to Hazel Blue skirts, we also have mama-skirts made by Karina Potestio.

A must-have clothing accessory for the mama-to-be is the Bella Band. The Bella Band is an ultra-soft seamless knit band that stretches and supports but offers its own stylish “layered look” instead being bulky or obvious. It can be used during all stages of pregnancy.

In addition to clothing, we have a number of pampering items for the mama-to-be from Earth Mama Angel Baby and Wild Carrot - these make great gifts!

We have used these with our kids and all we can say is that they are not only super cute, they are also tough! Soft Star moccasin are made of high quality leather and have comfy sheep skin liners. They are soft soled but hold up in all conditions so they promote proper foot development while protecting little toesies.

There is also a point of pride in wearing Soft Stars since they are handmade by self-proclaimed elves in Corvallis, Oregon. Great shoes, locally made, you gotta love that!

We have been looking and looking and finally found it! Affordable, high quality organic basics for babies and toddlers that meet our criteria for social and environmental responsibility:

Fair Trade: We believe in Fair Trade and insist that products we carry at Milagros adhere to international standards of fair wages, work benefits, positive environment and absolutely no child labor. Our organic basics are manufactured in India and have been reviewed by objective third-parties for compliance to these goals.

Environmentally Friendly: The cotton growing, processing and dyeing for these organics is certified by Skal as eco-friendly. The non-chlorine bleach and silicon-free cationic softeners are used in the processing. All dyes used are low impact, azo free reactive dyes approved by Skal.

High Quality: These onesies and shirts use ring-spun yarn which results in a superior, softer fabric. The organic cotton is carded and then combed for strength and softness. An enzyme wash removes loose surface fibers and prevents pilling, while reactive dyes render vibrant, lasting color.

Stylish and Affordable: They come in a variety of fun colors and they are only $12 each!

We got’em! High-quality cozy tights that are made to last! Our tights are made from the best quality Egyptian cotton which ensures durability, minimum shrinkage and piling, and excellent stretch and shape retention. The cotton is hand picked and chemical defoliants are not used. And are they fair trade? Heck yeah! They’re made in Germany!

And if you want leg warmers for your little miracle, we have those too!

Christina Bissell has provided us with a lot of lovely, lovely items including burp cloth sets, bibs, and reusable wipes. Her latest addition to Milagros are some super stylin’ scarfs.

These scarfs are a fun quilted patchwork with a snap front, so they are easy to put on and hard to lose. Definitely fashionable and functional. Each scarf is a unique work and made by hand with love. We have a limited selection on hand, they are definitely a great gift.
