What is this workshop about?

In today’s mobile society, our use of photographs has evolved from the process of developing print images to the instantaneous sharing of our experiences captured on smart phones and posted on social media sites. Yet in spite of these advances in technology, managing our photos and other important memorabilia still remains a challenge for most. Moms, in particular, who have assumed the role of the family historian and memory keeper, continue to seek out solutions that will allow them to efficiently manage and protect their family’s photo collection.

How will participants benefit?

During this session, participants will learn how to:
• Select and organize the photos that mean the most to them;
• Develop a backup strategy for securing and protecting their important photos;
• Share and display their best photos both online and in print;
• Get help by tapping into the resources and services available through the Association of Personal Photo Organizers.
Who will enjoy this workshop? This presentation is suitable for adults of all ages and especially tailored to meet the needs of those who love photography and are looking for ways to manage and share their photos and digital images more effectively.

About the instructor: Rita Norton, Territory Manager, Portland for Linea Photosharing LLC, has been helping clients tell their stories with family photos for over 13 years and her passion for what she does and belief in the power of a photograph is evident in her presentations. In her new role with Linea, Rita partners with the Association of Personal Photo Organizers to build awareness of this new service industry and to expand women’s ability to connect, share and nurture their families lives through the care and management of their personal photographs.

Nursing Mothers Counsel Breastfeeding Preparation Class, Thursday, January 26, 6:00pm: Breastfeeding is the most natural and healthy way to feed your baby, but it does not always come naturally. This free support class at Milagros provides guidance on how to initiate a successful breastfeeding relationship, ensuring a proper latch, how often to breastfeed, how to address common problems or concerns, and much more.  This class taught by the good people at Nursing Mothers Counsel is a casual setting to get your questions answered. It is open to mothers to be as well as their the partners, friends, and family. Free, no rsvp required.

Red Cross Safe Baby Class, Tuesday, November 8, 6:00pm:  This class will provides hands-on instruction on what to do if your infant or child is choking, rescue breathing, and basic CPR. You are welcome to bring your baby with you to this class. Class fee is $30 and registration is required. To register, call the Red Cross national class center at 800-445-8210 and ask to sign-up for the Safe Baby Presentation at Milagros Boutique in Portland, Oregon.

Toddler Family Wellness Coaching Classes being Thursday at Milagros, from the instructor:

For parents of children 10-24 months of age.

This wellness coaching group is an extension of the new family wellness (babies age 0-9 months) group hosted at Milagros Boutique on Thursdays. The first half of this class will be dedicated to learning and discussing issues that are specific to families of toddlers. The second half will be intended for open discussion and support around creating a balanced life an ever-changing child. Articles, recipes, and healthy foods will be available during each group.

Topic examples include first foods, sleep, relationship health, exercise, nutrition, speech development, brain development, going back to work, stress management, and anything else that is important to you. Each participant will fill out a topic survey, which will help Kelly determine which topics to address each week.

Cost: First class is free, just drop in. $18 drop-in per family. 5 class punch card – $85. 10 class card – $165. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Sliding scale available.

When: Weekly on Thursdays, 12-2, starting on September 22.

You will come away from this talk with some simple ideas you can implement into you life right away to bring about profound change and deeper connections.

This evening is an introduction to the work based on ‘Simplicity Parenting’, a best selling book by Kim Payne.

Yvonne is a trained Waldorf teacher and Simplicity Parenting group leader. She will start a 7 week parent group in October which will look at the many aspects of the home; creating rhythm, clearing up the environment, scheduling, discipline etc.
