Maple Landmark Toys
Posted by milagros under toys, Products, Milagros News
The safety of toys has been a big issue in the news lately. As we have noted previously, all the toy product lines sold at Milagros are made with pride in the USA. Many of our toys are hand-made, all are free of toxic finishes.
The only line of manufactured toys we carry are from Vermont toymaker Maple Landmark. We carry wood cars, trucks, trains, train whistles, rattles, tops, and more from Maple Landmark. We thought we would share some information on the production of these fine toys from the manufacturer:
“Nearly all our products are made here in our shop in Middlebury, Vermont. We buy, decorate and resell a half dozen items and, with the exception of an imported maple writing pen, those items are domestically produced as well. We do not do turnings (wooden round parts), those are domestically produced, mostly from mills in Maine.
Our materials are primarily local. All solid wood (maple, cherry, and pine) is sourced locally and largely grown locally. We are proud to say our lumber comes from people who care about healthy forests. For a few items, we do use a high grade plywood, which comes from Europe.
Our coatings, likewise, are domestically sourced. Indeed three of four suppliers produce here in Vermont, including our main supplier who we’ve been working with for 20 years. All finishes have passed safety testing in the past. We have never purchased finish based on price, we look for application and safety - not only for kids, but also for our employees.”
