Yes your highness…
Dinner time has been a little problematic lately.
We do not provide Mila a “kids meal.” She eats the same thing we do. This had never been an issue in the past but recently she has been declaring that she “hates” this or that. Also a variety of foods she has previously loved have suddenly and inexplicitly landed on her menu blacklist.
One recent evening she was in an especially dictatorial mood. Rejecting the food in front of her, she called forth her inner Veruka Salt and demanded, “I want eggs and I want them NOW!”
A little tired of this mealtime tug-o-war and nonplussed by her commanding tone, I dramatically replied, “Of course! My princess!”
Mila was not amused. She looked me directly in the eye and through her gritted teeth she forced out this reply:
“I am NOT a princess! I am a GIRL EMPEROR!”
Well, I guess that explains everything…
