Updated: Infant Car Seat Problems

Posted January 8th, 2007 in child safety, Milagros News

125-2544_img.JPGConsumer Reports has withdrawn its article on infant car seats. You can read the full story here.

However no matter what car seat you have, it is also important to make sure that you are using it properly. You can have your safety seat installation inspected at a variety of local agencies and businesses. To find the inspection station closest to you, go to seatcheck.org or check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website. Also the Alliance for Community Traffic Safety maintains a calendar of car seat clinics in Oregon.

A couple of other things to keep in mind regarding safety seats:

1) you shouldn’t purchase a used seat since there is not way to determine if it has ever been in a crash; and

2) do not use a seat past its expiration date (the expiration date is usually stamped on the plastic).
